Queer Studies – Online Minor
Explore the heart of queer studies
Queer studies examines how gender, sexuality and ideas of "normal" work together. This online undergraduate minor prepares students to examine how gender and sexuality are constructed and policed. It provides the exploration of gender as a focal point of analysis in determining differentials of power and opportunity. You will delve into the interaction of gender with a complex matrix of such fundamental categories as race, ethnicity, religion, class, sexual identity, age, physical appearance and mental or physical ability.
A modern program willing to adapt
Oregon State University first founded the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program in 1972, under the title of “Women’s Studies.” Over years of changing perspectives and cultural expectations, the department has evolved to understand and teach modern thinking on these very complex topics. With a program that is quick to correct course, you can be sure your voice and perspective make a difference in how these topics are taught for years to come.
