Franzi Gibbs

Student Success Counselor

Department: OSU Extended Campus

My name is Franzi and I am a Student Success Counselor serving students enrolled in the online programs of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources. Prior to joining Ecampus in July 2017, I worked as a Research Analyst for the Center for the Study of Student Life at Ohio State. At Ohio State, I cultivated a passion for coaching students through difficult transitions and spent the last four years volunteering as a Wellness Coach with the Student Wellness Center.

As far as my educational journey goes, I earned a Teacher’s Diploma from Eberhard Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany, an MA in German from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Ohio State. From personal experience I know that it’s reeaaally hard to predict where life takes you, both professionally and personally. Originally hailing from Alzey, Germany (population: 18,000) and training to be a K12 teacher, I would’ve never thought I’d be coaching college students at Oregon State University. Life truly IS a box of chocolates!

No matter what your story looks like, I believe that every student deserves to thrive. This is why, as a Student Success Counselor, I strive to help students discover and embrace their unique strengths and capacities for resilience and meaningful decision-making.
