I was born and raised on the Oregon Coast. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in history and Spanish. I am set to earn my master’s degree in education by March 2020. As a first-generation college student, I discovered higher education to be an essential part of my developmental journey. That’s why I committed myself to working in higher education, specifically in student support roles. My first position with the university was as an admissions advisor. That role allowed me to work with students from all over the states of Oregon, Texas, Washington and Utah. I assisted students in discovering the right college fit, a process that was rewarding for me. Being an admissions advisor made me feel more passionate about working with students which led me to pursue my current role as a student success coach.

I joined the Ecampus student success team in 2018. Through my position, I have found a new way to support and empower students throughout their online learning journey which can feel isolating at times. Success coaching offers students a way to connect with someone on campus who can help them break down their challenges and create a plan to realize their goals.

My approach to coaching centers on the student experience. I make sure to give students room to share their thoughts and concerns fully in order to afford them the space to establish a new way of thinking. This helps guide them to the development of strategies to tackle their challenges both in the online classroom and in their personal lives.

Outside of work, you can find me running through various parks and quiet backcountry roads. I also enjoy spending time with my family and my dog, Leo.
