Jennifer Deason - Huge Achievement

B.S. Liberal Studies
Redmond, OR

Jennifer Deason

What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
Completing my degree is a huge achievement and one of the biggest goals I have had since I was 13. No one in my family has ever gone to college, so it means a lot to show them that it can be done if you work hard enough and set your mind to it.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
I chose to complete my degree online because I needed to work full time and the online program made this possible. I really enjoyed the fact that I did not have to drive up to the Cascades Campus in Bend in the snow - I could just get online when I had time. It was never an inconvenience.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?

Yes, my advisor Louis Bottaro was very influential in helping me succeed as a distance student. He was almost always available and if he wasn't, he got back to me right away. He updated me on where I stood academically just about every term, which was very helpful. Since I am an online student, I needed someone to help me understand the requirements in order to graduate in a timely manner.
