What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
While completing my degree online has been challenging, it has also been rewarding. Completing my degree gives me a sense of accomplishment. Before attending OSU, I had put my education on hold to focus on my career. As I continued to climb the corporate ladder, I felt not having a degree would eventually stall my career and limit my opportunities. Completing my degree online through OSU Extended Campus opens new opportunities such as graduate school and career advancement.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
Working in Information Technology entails long hours with unexpected challenges. Emergency IT issues can arise at 5 p.m. or 5 a.m. Erratic work hours prohibited me from completing my degree in a traditional university setting. While having the flexibility to complete my degree online was important, it was nonetheless just as important for me to complete my degree from an academically-respected university. Completing my degree online through OSU Extended Campus allowed me to finish my degree without sacrificing my career. OSU Ecampus offers a traditional university education to nontraditional students, all while utilizing 21st Century technology.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?

Everyone, from instructors to advisors to members of the campus bookstore, are focused in helping distance students succeed. While distance students may be geographically distant from the Oregon State University campus, they are never distant from the Oregon State University family. Patience, flexibility and a willingness to help were the common denominators with everyone I have worked with at OSU.
