Indigenous Studies – Online Microcredential

A strong awareness and understanding of Indigenous experiences can improve cultural insensitivity, reduce microaggressions and counter marginalization of Indigenous people. By exploring and understanding Indigenous cultures, histories and perspectives, you can help develop an environment of greater empathy and respect — in the workplace and beyond.
When you earn a microcredential in Indigenous studies online from Oregon State, you'll delve into topics like assimilation, activism and colonialism. You’ll learn how to critically assess power dynamics and advocate for Indigenous sovereignty. These courses will empower you to engage with contemporary issues through an informed and empathetic lens, so you can meaningfully contribute to a world with greater understanding, equity and justice.

- ES 241 Introduction to Native American Studies (4)
- ES 243 Native American Assimilation and Activism (4)
- ES 260 Introduction to Pacific Islands Studies (4)
- ES 444 Native American Law: Tribes, Treaties, and the United States (4)
*You must complete 12 credits of coursework to earn this microcredential. Students can choose three courses from those listed above.
