Meet: Tanna Wise
Degree: B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy
Year: Junior
Hi! I'm Tanna. I'm studying environmental economics and policy because I want to help restore and protect the landscapes near me, including the coastline and the redwood forest. When I'm not studying, you can find me in my garden, at the park, at the beach, on a hike or studying herbalism.
I'm drawn to this field because of how policy, economics, and real environmental work all connect. Understanding that relationship has completely changed how I think about solving problems and making change happen in the world.
I chose OSU Ecampus because a family member recommended it, and I'm really glad they did. Being able to learn on my own schedule has made a huge difference, and the support from academic advising and student services has made me feel like they're genuinely invested in me as a person, not just a student.
Meet: Jessica Veliz
Degree: B.A. in Psychology
Year: Sophomore
Hello! I'm Jessica. I am currently working toward my bachelor's degree in psychology through Ecampus. I love to cook, bake, spend time with my family and go on walks with my dog, Lorelai.
One of my favorite classes so far at OSU was Grimms’ Fairy Tales (WLC 241). It was such an interesting class and helped me to appreciate fairy tales in a whole new way! The world is filled with stories, and discovering their meanings and what they can teach us about life is illuminating. This is just one of the many interesting classes you can be a part of through Ecampus!
I chose Ecampus because, as a busy mom with many demands on my time, I needed school to be convenient, straightforward and effective. OSU is one of the highest-ranked programs available and offers a great curriculum, professors, community and support! As a person who values simplicity and clarity, I have had success planning and working through my degree completion, in no small part because of all the help I have gotten from great counselors! I am proud to be a part of OSU. Go Beavs!
Meet: Isai Espinoza
Degree: B.S. in Finance
Year: Junior
Hey, everyone. My name is Isai, and I am currently working toward my B.S. in Finance with a minor in Accounting through Ecampus.
When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging out with my dachshund Chorizo, watching/playing soccer and basketball and collecting sneakers.
Two standout courses for me have been BA 226z – Introduction to Business Law and BA 381 – Personal and Professional Development. Professors Inara Scott and Aaron Lewis have shown me the quality and dedication of OSU’s Ecampus program. They have shown me that online learning does not mean a lower-quality education. The professors genuinely care about student success and engagement, whether students are online or in person.
I chose OSU not only because of its reputation as a top-ranked online program, but also because of the sense of community it creates for online students. Even though I’m over 1,000 miles away, OSU has given me opportunities to network, grow professionally and feel connected to something bigger than myself.
