Meet: Erin Traub
Degree: B.S. in Psychology
Year: Senior
Studying in: Virginia
Hi, I'm Erin! I'm working on my B.S. in Psychology at OSU through Ecampus. I live in Northern Virginia, near Washington D.C., I have three Goldendoodles and I love traveling, the beach, baking, and Marvel movies.
My favorite class that I've taken so far at OSU was Professor Shelton's WGSS 325, Disney: Gender, Race, Empire. I've watched Disney movies since I was a little kid, and it was really fun to take a more thoughtful look at the messaging and gender roles in the films. Professor Shelton was also amazing, they were so engaging and had a lot of great feedback on my work throughout the course.
I chose OSU because my grandfather graduated from Oregon State in the 1950s and absolutely loved it. He loved the school, Oregon, and his classmates. He kept in touch with some of them, and they even got together for a 60-year reunion in the 2010s. I was doing my senior year of high school online when my grandpa started getting sick. Taking my classes online meant that I got to spend a lot of time with him during his last year and hear his stories about Oregon, being in the Navy and traveling the world. He passed away in January of my senior year, and I knew that I wanted to honor him and go to the school that he loved so much.
Meet: Annmarie Floyd
Degree: B.S. in Marketing
Year: Junior
Studying in: Oregon
Hello, I’m Annmarie! I am working on my B.S. in Marketing with a minor in Organizational Leadership through Ecampus. I enjoy reading, playing video games with my family, crocheting, knitting, and cold weather.
My favorite class that I have taken so far at OSU is Elementary Algebra, MTH 065, with Professor Argyres. It not only refreshed my math skills, but also uses ALEKS, a learning assessment system, to make sure everything I learned stuck with me. I was able to continue to take math classes that used ALEKS, which made starting classes in a new term exciting.
I chose to study at OSU because I wanted to be able to work on my future from anywhere in the world. I researched which online colleges were available to me, and OSU popped up with an outstanding number of degree options, which made finding my passion in marketing and business so much easier. OSU has not only welcomed me with open arms but continues to prove that they will make sure they take care of me as a student and a person through their endless amounts of resources available.
Meet: Bill Watson
Degree: B.A. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
Year: Junior
Studying in: California
Hi, I’m Bill! I’m a native Californian, and I've lived my entire life in the Sacramento area of Northern California. After 36 successful years in the banking industry, I retired in July 2021 and decided to return to school to complete the college education that I put on hold back in the late 1980s.
I chose OSU Ecampus after extensively researching reputable universities that offer 100% online degrees. Oregon State landed in my top three options since they have a plethora of online degree programs available to fit every need and interest. They were also rated highly specifically for their WGSS degree program. After further review and inquiry, including interacting with an Ecampus Student Services representative, my choice was obvious—OSU Ecampus, no contest!
I’m a bit older than most Oregon State on-campus students, but with Ecampus, I am among comparable peers, which I especially appreciate. I am majoring in WGSS with a minor in Queer Studies. My goal is to graduate by the end of 2025. After I graduate, I hope to work with marginalized communities as an advocate, liaison, coach or counselor.
My experience to date as an Ecampus student? The instructors are top-notch, the student body is similar to me, the availability and flexibility of asynchronous coursework is a game-changer, and the support and resources provided by the OSU Ecampus team are unparalleled.
