What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
Completing my degree in agriculture enhances my career opportunities in both the private and public sectors. This is a personal goal that will open many doors that have been closed to me in the past. It proves that "I can do it," and shows my children what is possible if you stay the course to reach your goals in life.
Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
I was not able to move closer to go to a school where I could have earned this type of degree. OSU Ecampus gave me the flexibility that I need in my busy life. I have worked full time and raised a family and now, it is time for me to reach my potential in my career.
Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?
Yes, Wayne Fanno, who was my faculty advisor and instructor in the Department of Agriculture Sciences at OSU. He guided me in my quest for reaching my post-bacc graduate degree. He was there as my advisor and one of my professors in Leadership Development and a six-unit internship with my employer in 2007, the USDA, and Natural Resources Conservation Service in California. I met him face-to-face in 2005 and he was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't have accomplished this without his help.
