What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career? Acquiring my master's degree has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life, both personally and for the advancement of my career. The effort expended in procuring this milestone has grown me as a person and has expanded my skills and abilities in the field of adult education. This degree will allow me to set foot upon an entirely new career path.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?  I chose this program first and foremost because it was a strong curriculum and met my desires for working with adult students while pursuing a career in training, development, and evaluation consulting. I deeply appreciated the Extended campus method of education because it allowed me to continue my demanding life schedule while engaging in a challenging course-load.Additionally, since I live on the Oregon Coast I do not have access to a local university. This made Extended campus the most viable option for obtaining my degree.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student? This Ed.M program was full of wonderful professors who were extremely influential in helping me succeed. The program is a cohort hybrid model, with a small amount of class time in conjunction with extensive distance learning. It was unique in that it allowed me to meet with both professors and peers, which permitted an opportunity to develop a strong working relationship with professors. All of the instructors were invested in my learning. I have stayed in touch with many of them and they continue to mentor me while I transition from student to entrepreneur. The professors most influential in my success in this program include:
Dr. Darlene Russ, Dr. Cheryl Falk, Dr. Marsha Willard, Dr. Jennifer Webster, and George Reese.

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
My Ed.M. will allow me to become an independent consultant in the field of training, development, and evaluation. This exciting new career transition would not have been possible without this program. I am also seriously considering obtaining my PhD., which is a goal I have always dreamed of, but because of logistics never thought possible. With the option of Ecampus, this goal may now become reality.
