Noel Dietz – Seeing the world through a new lensNoel Dietz

B.A. Liberal Studies
Sunnyvale, Calif.

What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
From the time of my high school graduation more than 30 years ago, I have wanted to complete my degree, and this is the completion of a longtime goal. Through the classes I have attended, I have learned to think more critically, to evaluate more objectively and to see the world differently.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
As a working professional, attending classes on a tradition schedule was difficult for me. With Ecampus, I have been able to post to discussion threads at 10 p.m. or take a midterm at 5 a.m. - whenever worked for me. The depth and breadth of class offerings has been outstanding. And since OSU is a major university, I get to cheer for the football team, too. Go Beavers!

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?
My advisor, Kathy Fultz, has kept me on track for most of my Ecampus career and helped me to maintain my sense of humor throughout. Without Kathy's guidance, I would not have been able to graduate this year.

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
I will be eligible to retire from my current career in the next few years, and with my Ecampus degree I can pursue an "encore career" in areas that would have been closed to me without a degree. The variety of classes I have taken has helped to guide me toward areas of future interest.
