Amy Cauthon – Need a reason to smile? 'All is possible'

B.S. in Natural Resources
Yachats, Ore.

What does earning your OSU degree mean to you?
Practically, the completion of this degree means that I will have the skills necessary to find a job in my chosen field, a job that I will not only enjoy for the rest of my life but also one that enables me to support my family. Emotionally, this degree means much more; upon completion I will have proven to myself that I do indeed possess the courage, intelligence and perseverance required for such an undertaking. All is possible.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
The location of my home was a tremendous obstacle to the furthering of my education. Ecampus took that factor out of play and made it possible for me to resume my studies.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?
Dr. Bob Ehrhart was the instructor who inspired me to look around me and really notice how the use of natural resources in my area was affecting both myself and those around me. His courses are a challenge, but his demand for intelligent thought on my part coupled with eye-opening lessons on the status and use of natural resources inspired me to keep going despite often detrimental life circumstances.

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
I smile at the mere thought of finally earning my undergraduate degree. It is something that I have poked around at for many years. OSU Ecampus gave me the tools to finally complete it. This degree will serve to not only allow me to pursue a career in the field that I am most passionate about, but will also enable me to support my family at the same time. What a blessing.
