Distance students travel far and wide to attend annual festivity

Some events are big enough to attract people from all over the world. Oregon State University's 2015 commencement ceremony and the Ecampus graduation reception did just that.

On the morning of Saturday, June 13, Ecampus hosted a reception to honor the 590 distance students who earned their degree online from Oregon State. A total of 74 graduates and their families and friends traveled from all over the world – from as far away as Mexico, Maine, American Samoa and Hawaii – to take part in the Ecampus celebration.

Many of the new alumni were making their first visit to the Corvallis campus, and the reception gave them the opportunity to chat and take photos with their classmates, instructors and advisors.

All told, the Ecampus class of 2015 featured students from 46 states and 10 countries.* View a complete list of this year's Ecampus graduates.
