Explores how disease has impacted the development of societies, and how societal factors, including race, socioeconomics, gender, and more, have impacted disease spread. Examines how disease provides perspective for how societies treat oppressed populations. Analyzes how unequal distribution of social and economic power is sustained through institutional practices, which obscure the origins and processes of discrimination. Investigates how disease continues to burden marginalized populations within the US and beyond. Examines these and other factors through discussions, reading, writing, and working with peers.
