Kelley Ellis - Pulling for the underdog

B.S. Liberal Studies

Kelley Ellis

What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
I have been working toward a bachelor's degree since 1996 attending both on campus and Ecampus to achieve this goal. I have finally completed this goal while working full time and being a single mother. Receiving this degree is a wonderful achievement in my life. I am pleased to show my 4-year-old son that anyone can make their dreams come true if they work hard. After receiving my bachelor's degree, I plan to study for the LSAT and attend law school in fall 2010. My interest in law will continue with my lifelong work of helping the "little guy" in the world of politics and government.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
I chose the Ecampus courses strictly out of convienience. While working full time and after having my son, I did not have the time to travel to campus to attend classes. I appreciated thatĀ Ecampus courses could meet my demanding life.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?

I really enjoyed Brent Steel's courses the most. His approach in the political science field was very educational and his teaching style met my lifestyle needs.

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
I will attend law school in fall 2010 and will be allowed to pursue my ultimate goal of working within the law system to help the underdog.
