Holly Morris - Helping to maintain and sustain

B.S. Environmental Sciences
Eugene, OR

Holly Morris

What does completing your degree mean to you? How do you feel it will improve your life and career?
I feel a bit of relief and a great deal of accomplishment. I have never felt such a degree of accomplishment except for when I gave birth to my three children. With the completion of my degree, I will have a better career than without, which will give me the opportunity to help maintain and sustain our natural resources. I will also have the opportunity for a better life and the opportunity to give that to my kids.

Why did you choose to complete your degree online through OSU Extended Campus? What did you like about this method of education?
I chose OSU Ecampus because I have a family with young kids that attend school locally. I also have my parents and other supportive people established locally. I am excited that I had the opportunity to complete my degree online. I could not have moved in order to attend a four-year university.

Did you have an instructor or advisor who was influential in helping you succeed as a distance student?

Yes, my advisor as well as my instructors helped me succeed by being responsive to any questions or concerns I may have had. They were prompt in their responses and extremely informative. As a distant student, communication is key. Without proper communication my success would have been compromised.

What will your Ecampus degree allow you to do that you were unable to do before?
I can now have a career in many different areas of environmental science. This includes ecology and natural resource management. I hope to get hired by Bonneville Power Administration or the Army Corp of Engineers as a civilian and put my skills to work at one of the dams along the Columbia River or work with one of our many sub-basin watersheds in Wasco County.
