Oregon State Ecampus graduates from the class of 2013 discuss their academic achievements.

It takes years of hard work and sometimes decades of determination to earn a degree from a respected institution like Oregon State University. When it's all said and done, the celebration is unforgettable.

On the morning of Saturday, June 15, Oregon State Ecampus hosted a reception to honor the achievements and dedication of 386 distance students who earned their degree online with OSU. A total of 75 graduates and their families and friends traveled from all over the United States – and from as far away as Germany – to take part in the celebration.

Many of the new alumni were making their first visit to the Corvallis campus, and the reception gave them the opportunity to chat and take photos with their classmates, instructors and advisors. Later in the day, sociology graduate Mary Ellen Hurley received special recognition for her work in the online classroom and the community when she was honored by OSU President Edward J. Ray in his commencement address.

All told, the Ecampus class of 2013 featured students from 41 states and eight countries, including United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Puerto Rico and Russia. View a complete list of this year's Ecampus graduates, and take a look at the slideshow below for highlights from the Ecampus reception.
