"I liked the flexibility of distance courses, being able to take courses at a time that worked for me. I also appreciated the ability to select from a wide variety of courses in the General Agriculture program."

Jessica Strickland took classes on the OSU campus, then continued with distance courses while living in Seattle. Jessica returned to the Willamette Valley, and her ideal career would place her in agro-industrial sales, perhaps working with her father at Tetra, a local company that manufactures a special lubricant for farm implements.

Jessica found distance courses more personal than on-site. She found that calling or e-mailing her instructor gave her a more satisfying teacher-student relationship than being "a face in a classroom." Her tips to peers include being self-motivated, and setting aside time to do your assignments.
