Interested in sustainable living and taking care of the planet?

Today, scientists must be trained to assess problems and provide potential solutions from scientific perspectives when faced with environmental issues, to predict environmental change, and to participate in responsible management of the environment. To help reach these objectives, OSU's Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences offers an interdisciplinary approach to environmental problem solving.

New sustainability option available

OSU Ecampus Environmental Sciences majors can now choose a specialization option in Environmental Conservation and Sustainability. Completing this degree plan option will prepare graduates for today’s job market in maintaining and preserving our ecological support systems.

As an Environmental Sciences major, you will:

  • Study an interdisciplinary curriculum in basic science, the humanities and social sciences.
  • Learn about complex environmental issues, such as depletion of the ozone layer, greenhouse gases, nuclear waste, acid rain and pollution.
  • Obtain excellent training for a variety of Career choices, including work with federal agencies, industry and education.

Completing an Environmental Sciences Degree through Ecampus

Tammi HittThe undergraduate distance degree programs are designed to be completed entirely at a distance. However, there are a few courses that OSU Extended Campus (Ecampus) does not currently offer.

For the Environmental Sciences distance degree, a full year of biology for science/biology majors must be taken in-person at a local academic institution and must include a lab. Chemistry can be completed online through Ecampus. While Ecampus does not currently offer physics online, students can choose to complete these courses online via two approved institutions - Chemeketa Community College or Eastern Oregon University.

All other courses required for this degree are offered through OSU Ecampus. They are delivered via Web, DVD or streaming media.

Contact our Student Services Center to find out if courses you have already taken will meet degree requirements. If you have not taken any previous coursework, we will also work closely with you to find a distance or local alternative for courses not offered by Ecampus.
