Online Course Proposals
Oregon State Ecampus offers funding and a high level of support for the development of new online courses and for the redevelopment of existing online courses.
Development Timeline:
- Online course development or redevelopment occur over a two-term timeline. Development terms are considered to be the two terms immediately prior to the requested delivery term.
- Ecampus strongly prefers that development occur in the two terms just prior to the course being offered. When development occurs too far in advance of the course being offered, there tend to be significantly more delays in course development completions.
- 2024-2025 - Due to significant new program development as part of Prosperity Widely Shared and the CoreEd revision, course development resources are limited, and we have less flexibility to grant extensions.
- If an advanced development timeline is absolutely necessary, the development MUST be completed in the two terms selected. Please include in the comments field on the proposal form the two terms being requested. Due to unprecedented demand for course development services, we will not be able to offer extensions as we have in the past.
Other Expectations:
- All new developments or first-time redevelopments include participation in a funded course development or redevelopment workshop.
- Courses are designed and developed collaboratively. Faculty partner with Ecampus instructional designers, training professionals, and multimedia developers to create well-designed, effective learning experiences for students.
- Faculty should plan to engage consistently across the two terms of development and meet submission milestones outlined by the faculty and their instructional designer at the beginning of the project.
- Content and materials are designed and developed specifically for the distance student.
- Faculty agree to meet the design standards outlined in the Ecampus Essentials document.
- Funding transfers are department-to-department transfers. Ecampus does not hire or pay faculty directly.
