Student-centered remote teaching: Lessons learned from online education

6 minute read While online and remote education may not be synonymous, today’s new remote educators can benefit from the “lessons learned” by experienced online educators who are providing high-quality, engaging learning experiences for their students. The one “lesson learned” I see as the most significant for faculty as they begin to teach from a distance is to consider the new learning environment from a student-centered perspective.

Our student support never stops – in good times or in crisis

2 minute read Here’s one of the biggest misconceptions about learning online: Students have to learn all by themselves, with little support from the university community. At Oregon State, the faculty who develop and teach classes online are experts at creating innovative ways for students to interact with classmates, instructors and the course content. And that enriching online learning environment is accompanied by a robust support system for OSU Ecampus students.

Mark Moore, on the other hand, embraced change when he chose to step away from his career as a classroom teacher to pursue a future that blends education and computer science by learning online with OSU Ecampus.

She supports and advocates for Native American students who learn online with OSU.
