QM Online Course Design – Become a Peer Reviewer
How can you become a peer reviewer?
Now that Oregon State is part of QM's vast network, you can join the ranks of thousands of peer reviewers in supporting instructors from OSU and around the world. Various types of QM training are available, and stipends are awarded whenever one completes a review of a peer's course.
In order to gain certification, you must complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) Workshop and the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC). To become a master reviewer (i.e. a team lead for the peer review), you must complete the Master Review Certification.
Serving as a peer reviewer is a great way to learn about what’s happening in other online courses, to get ideas for your own teaching, and to provide valuable feedback for other online instructors. Peer reviewers also earn stipends for completing QM peer reviews.
Contact Ecampus' assistant director of course development and training, Katherine McAlvage, via email or at 541-737-8288 for more details.
Who reviews the online courses?
Each formal course review will be conducted by three QM-certified people: a master reviewer and two peer reviewers. On this three-person team, one member must be from an outside institution and one must be a subject matter expert. Ecampus would like to have at least one OSU certified peer reviewer participate on each review team.
QM has a database of thousands of peer reviewers from institutions in all 50 states as well as in Canada and Puerto Rico. A course is eligible for review if it has been taught at least once and underwent a successful pre-review with an Ecampus instructional designer.
