Course Development Roles and Responsibilities
Some faculty members new to online course development or new to OSU might be curious about how collaborative course development works. Who is responsible for what? The table below outlines expected roles and responsibilities.

Providing course content to the instructional designer on agreed-upon timeline (i.e. outcomes, assessments, activities, discussion prompts, readings, videos, tutorials, lectures, demonstrations, etc.) Adjusting course content as needed to meet research-based best practices in course design Proactively selecting course content that is already accessible or able to be made accessible easily. |
Build the content into Canvas, ensuring that materials are posted in an accessible format, using research-based best practices in course design Provide recommendations to faculty about online class management that factors into design (i.e. how to set up asynchronous discussions to ensure they are robust, or how to decide whether proctored exams make sense for a given class) |
