Licensure Disclosure: Master of Counseling for Clinical Mental Health Counselors
Oregon State University is institutionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Title IV approved institution. The OSU Master of Counseling (M.Coun.) program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) organization and offers focused tracks in the areas of School Counselor or Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
In compliance with the U.S. Department of Education and the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (OR-HECC) requirements for participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), Oregon State University provides information pertaining to this program and clinical mental health licensure within each of the U.S. states and territories.
This program is designed to meet the educational requirements for clinical mental health counselor licensure in Oregon. If your intent is to secure licensure outside of Oregon, then BEFORE beginning OSU's program, use the drop-down list below and select the state or territory in which licensure is intended. This will help you determine whether OSU has obtained confirmation from the state or territory to formally identify whether the OSU Master of Counseling (M.Coun.) program meets, does not meet or cannot be confirmed as meeting the educational requirements for licensure.
Simply stated, when it comes to licensure requirements, not all states and territories recognize educational programs from other states and territories in the same manner. Thus, if it is identified that the program "cannot be confirmed as meeting" the educational requirements for licensure, it may nevertheless meet all or a portion of the educational requirements. So in this instance, we recommend contacting the licensing agency directly for confirmation, before beginning the OSU program.
Additionally, since state and territory regulations can change, should you pursue the OSU program, we recommend that you regularly check licensure requirements throughout your studies to ensure ongoing eligibility.
To help facilitate this, direct links to licensing agencies have been provided wherever possible.
