Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Online Minor

Innovation often means two things in the business world: launching a new venture or developing a new idea for an existing organization. To be successful at either, you need the ability to recognize business opportunities, the skills to secure funding, and the insights to manage the commercialization of the business opportunity.

As a student in Oregon State University’s undergraduate minor in innovation and entrepreneurship online, you’ll learn how to seize market opportunities through the creation and commercialization of new ideas. This program — offered online by Oregon State’s AACSB-accredited College of Business — will equip you with the entrepreneurial mindset and skills necessary to build a successful career in any industry that relies on creative, strategic and innovative thinking.

Coursework

Consisting of a minimum of 27 credits of coursework, the curriculum in the innovation and entrepreneurship minor covers topics such as new venture financing, iterate and go-to-market skills, technology and innovation management. This program gives you the option to choose from two focus areas related to innovation and entrepreneurship. Focus areas are suggested, optional course combinations that you can select based on your interests and professional goals. 

Creativity and innovation
This focus area emphasizes creativity, ideation, and identifying and developing innovative business opportunities in any type of organization.

Venture creation and growth
This program pathway focuses on commercializing identified opportunities and scaling new ventures or entrepreneurial projects within existing organizations.
