Popular Music Studies – Online Minor

Explore your creativity through the power of music

Embrace the opportunity to examine popular music as a cultural, social, creative and viable economic field by pursuing a minor in popular music studies online with Oregon State University. This minor will provide you with literacy in several popular music genres including American music, rock 'n' roll, hip hop, film music, reggae, musical theater, songwriting and jazz.

You do not need to audition or have the ability to read music in order to enroll in this program.

Coursework

Through the study of a diverse range of genres, stylistic practices, performance media and music as a commercial enterprise, you will develop analytical, historical, critical and practical skills to explore, explain and differentiate popular musics.
